For anyone interested in using the services of Mortgage Research Center (MRC)
when using a VA loan to purchase a new home please research other options. My
wife and I made the mistake of going through MRC and it was the worst mistake
of our lives. They screwed up so many things that our closing was delayed by
5 days. They also offered to have our inspection paid by the seller in the
closing costs but neglected to include in the paperwork costing us $510.
Finally, the GFE they provided us showed us getting back almost $2,500 at
closing but when we got to closing we found that we actually owed over $700
more than we had already paid. MRC's response to all the problems was to
blame them on everyone else from claiming they couldn't contact my employer
to verify employment--my employer informed me that the provided employment
verification 4 times and have documentation to back it up--to claiming our
home owners insurance was inadequate even though the MRC rep was on the phone
when I established the insurance and told me and the insurance carrier that
everything was sufficient.
I am not telling anyone what to do; I am just letting my story out so that others can think carefully about how they wish to proceed. They're are many legitimate companies out there that deal in VA loans and I can't say which ones are good or bad, all I can say is that my experience with MRC was horrendous and I will never use there services ever again.
